Last night I went to this concert with Annie and Matt and we had a beautiful time. It was the type of intimate concert where you just bask in the beauty of an incredible voice and ponder the depth of beautiful poetry.

It was only this summer when I was introduced to Brandi's music. Annie emailed me some links to some of her songs on days when I really needed it.

I immediately loved Pride and Joy. The lyrics are so profound. Some of my favorite lines are:
Life is not a looking glass
Don't get tangled in your past
Like I am learning not to.

Where are you now?
 Do you let me down?
Do you make me grieve for you?
Do I make you proud?
 Do you get me now?
Am I your pride and joy?

"The Story" may be her most well known song. I have a new appreciation for it thanks to a special nurd who showed me the meaning. This part of the song has some of my favorite lines.
I crossed over lines
I broke all the rules
But Baby I broke them all for you.
Because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks.
You do
I was made for you.

And here is a little bit of Somewhere Over the Rainbow just so you can hear the pure, earthy, breathtaking sound of her voice.

When Brandi wails on her guitar I think "That is the COOLEST person I have ever beheld."

Here we are waiting in line to get in. She did 2 shows Thursday night and 2 shows Friday night. All the shows were sold out!

  1. I am so glad you are posting again. It's been so long. I'm not good at face booking so I was excited to hear from you. I've never heard of Brandi's music, but I really felt your heartwarming expression in the words you used to discribe how you feel in her expression and style of music, and to hear her music in the manner and moods she creates. Beautiful and thought provoking.
